Letter: Resident Supporting Sbarra, Wysocki, And Ervin For Town Council

Cheryl Hermansen claims they are the most experienced candidates running.

MAHWAH, N.J. — Residents will elect three people to the Township Council Nov. 8.

We will be replacing two seasoned councilmembers: Lisa DiGiulio, who is retiring after 28 years of dedication to our town; and Council President John Roth, who is running for mayor. To fill these vacancies, I encourage everyone to support Steve Sbarra, Jim Wysocki, and George Ervin.

Steve Sbarra is the current council vice president and the only incumbent running for re-election. Steve has been instrumental in working to keep our taxes down by cutting 20 percent off the the mayor's tax increases the last four years. He is council liaison to the planning and school boards. He has served on our Affordable Housing Commission, serves on the 15-town municipal pipeline group, and coached youth hockey. His experience is most needed with the departure of Mrs. DiGiulio and Mr. Roth.

Jim Wysocki is a lifelong resident of Mahwah, a retired Mahwah police officer, and current volunteer firefighter for over 37 years. Jim has coached youth sports, is an avid supporter of the Mahwah Museum, and a volunteer arson investigator. Jim also has a big heart; he donated a signed Les Paul guitar to help raise funds for the care of Sara Goffredo.

George Ervin has been a resident of Mahwah for nearly 25 years. He runs his own contracting firm and may have even fixed your roof, a gutter, a pipe, or built a room on your home.

George's community service is well known in town. He has served on the Planning Board and is currently a member of our Board of Adjustments, and our Recreation Committee.

Please join me in supporting the three most experienced candidates running for the Mahwah Town Council. Please vote Sbarra, Wysocki, and Ervin.
