Rt. 17 Gas Station Robbed At Gunpoint Thursday Morning: Police
BREAKING: Police said the suspect put a gun in a gas attendant's face and demanded money.
MAHWAH, NJ — The Liberty gas station and Quick Stop deli on Route 17 North was robbed early Thursday morning, police report.
Police received a 911 call at about 3 a.m. from an attendant at the station that a man brandished a gun as he entered the store and demanded money, said Chief James Batelli.
The attendant was in the back of the store and as he was walking to the front, a man put a gun in his face and demanded money from the cash register, Batelli said.

The attendant gave the man money and the man also took cash from the register before fleeing the store, the chief said. The man approached another attendant outside, but he told the suspect that he did not have any money, he said.
The suspect then ran towards the Coach Bus depot. Police set up a perimeter around the Sheraton hotel parking lot and surrounding area, the chief said.

Police believe the suspect may be responsible for other armed robberies in Bergen County, Batelli said.
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned man wearing dark-colored pants with zippers near the knees, a blue sweatshirt, green T-shirt, gloves and a dark-colored cloth. The gun was silver with a black hand grip.
