State Police Deliver Presents To Patients At Bergen Children's Hospital

The children, some as young as 11 months, were receiving treatment for cancer.

Several New Jersey State troopers delivered presents to patients at Hackensack University Medical Center, including children the Pediatric Oncology Department.

Trooper Dennis Cappello and his wife Lori, who is a nurse in the hospital's oncology department, visited patients from 11 months to 85 years old, police said.

“It was extremely difficult seeing children and adults being treated for such serious illnesses, but it was so gratifying to put smiles on their faces," Devlin said.

Lt. Sal Ingui and his wife Denise brought gifts from their foundation, Rare is Beautiful, which they started after their daughter was diagnosed with Peutz Jeghers Syndrome, a rare condition that increases a person's risk of developing cancer.
