Super Bowl 52 Think back and Remember

A look at Sundday night's game

SUPER BOWL FINAL THOUGHTS

Here are some things that cross my mind as I think back and remember Super Bowl 52 on Sunday night

-Can’t remember the last time when I saw Bellechik get outcoached sooo badly. He made the choice to not play Malcom Butler at CB which resulted in at least one Eagle TD and numerous missed tackles in the secondary. The Patriot defense was nonexistent never made a stop when it counted not a good advertisement for coordinator Matt Patricia who has been named head coach of the Detroit Lions

-QB Tom Brady did not lose this game, matter of fact he was outstanding especially in the 2nd half. The Patriots defense lost its battle against the Philly offense---when it mattered.

-As I prewarned many, Eagles Coach Doug Pederson is a bit of a gambler but his call of a QB throwback pass to Foles on 4th and goal was pure genius and will live as one of the very best calls in Super Bowl history

-Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles was the best QB on the field in the game and seemed so relaxed and poised one had to make an effort to recall that Foles has been a backup all season. What a remarkable post season he has had, it was refreshing if not politically correct to see Foles, Pederson, and all the Eagles not shy about expressing their Faith in these crazy times we live in

-This game was marred by the catch non catch controversy that plagued the NFL all year and it serves the league right that it still dominates conversations because of the inconsistencies not rectified the commissioner Goodell

-They tell me Justin Timberlake is a great entertainer and his salute to Prince was timely and right but I think this halftime special thing has run its course. It’s impossible to do a coherent set in the allotted time it seems to me. Audio is always a problem---it’s hard if not impossible to hear actual lyrics despite the outpouring of energy in the acts. For my money I’d like to see maybe a Super Bowl TV special on a Saturday night featuring the special performer kind of like CBS did recently with Bruno Mars.

Although long suffering Eagles fans finally were rewarded for their loyalty unfortunately some of them were to determine to do the impossible-- damage an already horrible reputation. Destroying hotel awnings, setting cars ablaze eating horse crap? These kind of activities are hard to digest but makes one realize these are also the people that boo Santa Claus

-Could not help but think of my uncle Ed watching from above probably wearing that dopey Eagles jacket enjoying the game from Heaven. Congratulations Uncle miss you terribly but I’m smiling with you and for you today
