Mahwah Man Charged After Hitting Pedestrian, 88: Prosecutor
John Gallagher, 50, was charged after he struck an 88-year-old man who was walking down the street, authorities said.

MAHWAH, NJ - A Mahwah man with a suspended driver’s license was arrested after he allegedly struck an 88-year-old man with his truck Wednesday, authorities said.
John Gallagher, 50, was charged after he allegedly struck Samuel Barbagallo, 88, as he was backing his 2004 Ford explorer out of a parking space on Tulip Tree Court at about 3 p.m., said Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.
Barbagallo, a Mahwah resident, was walking behind Gallagher’s truck when he was struck, Grewal said. Barbagallo was seriously injured and was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

Gallagher was driving with a suspended New York driver’s license when the accident occurred, Grewal said.
Gallagher was charged with causing serious bodily injury while driving suspended. He was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended and careless driving. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Mahwah Municipal Court Thursday afternoon, the prosecutor said.
