Time Passes…..trust me it really does!!!!

The weather these days….if you just stand still long enough it will change…..My Goddaughter and I celebrated her birthday recently it was just the other day I was sitting in a rocking chair giving her a bottle….wasn’t it?.....Yesterday’s rain exacerbated the appearance of gray and brown where it used to be orange, yellow, red, and brown……I love the fall and spring but does there have to be a winter? Why? How is it yesterday our nation extinguished the leader of all world troublemakers ISIS and one political party hardly responded? What ever happened to the “we are all Americans” thing everybody says for a minute or two when something good happens…..These old bodies don’t last forever either….at least one surgery needed probably by next spring….Sometimes I think we are like a rudderless boat going round and round in circles due to lack of either spiritual awareness, moral compassing, or both. How did we get so screwed up to begin to think that its ok for men with 5 o’clock shadows to follow little girls to their bathrooms?,,,,Maybe this why I don’t have kids, I’d probably end up in prison

I was a lot more passionate about professional sports than I seem to be these days…..I will say up front that the disappointing performances of all my teams certainly plays a role in my feeling but it’s beginning to be a chore to watch many of the games people play. My beloved Yankees have once again underachieved and it’s fair to wonder if former genius Brian Cashman has enough on his fast ball to get a World Series Championship. This year’s team was eliminated mainly because most of their hitters choked in the clutch……having said that I have yet to watch one World Series game this year, I have no interest, really. Yet I’m the same person that used to get my mom to let me stay home from school so I could watch the world series with those 1:00 in the afternoon starts…..anybody remember those?

I’ve said before that the NFL is become very close to killing its own golden calf----they are just about their…..Even as both New York teams work feverishly to establish the worst local season ever their game, or all games as I see them are impossible to watch. Each game features routinely bad officiating leading to numerous play stoppages to review what might have been, followed by commercials so insurance companies, beverage makers and car dealers can vie for our attention. The pro game has no continuity or prolonged entertainment. I am a delayed watcher now----that is to say I watch then I wait to make sure I see no flags yellow or red before I digest what I just saw……how’s that for entertainment.

The NBA is also a lost cause because our area lacks an identity although there’s an outside chance that may change when Durant joins the Nets next season in Brooklyn. The Knicks have been a disaster since 1973 losing every time to the Jordan Horri bulls in the 90s was not exactly fun. I have no idea when the Knicks will be worth my time----I can’t figure out why anybody in their right mind would pay hard earned money to see them play they have no chance----none…..my buddy Rich and I would take the park/ride run down eighth avenue to sit in the blues for a Knick game …. A longgggggggggg time ago

Likewise the hockey season is over here in our area as well…..somehow all 3 teams here have managed to get into the rebuild mode at the same time,,,,, the icemen are a little more palatable however because the game if fast, skilled, and violent.

Soooo I am left with few options for more sports entertainment dollar or time investment…..THANK GOD for the PGA tour, with its wrap around season taking over the fall to winter months and this year’s Presidents Cup I do enjoy watching the skills of the player and the beautiful paintings they play on…..sad to say this might be the closest I get to golf for a while……I face surgery in the spring.
