Town Hall Given Late Mayor's Name
Ceremony honors Richard Martel and thanks his family
Mahwah's late Mayor Richard Martel was honored Sunday when the township hall was renamed for him.
Local past and present politicians gathered to honor Martel, and to thank his family for their involvement in the town for all of the years that he served as a planning board member, town council member, and 14 years as mayor.
Current Mayor John DaPuzzo, Freeholder Rob Hermansen, Senator Gerald Cardinale, Town Council President John Roth, former Town Council Presidents Lisa DiGiulio, John Kelly, John Spiech, Lou Rizzo, and Martel's son, Dan, all made remarks about the former mayor, and his legacy in Mahwah.

A new sign donning Martel's name was unveiled during the ceremony, which was attended by his wife, children, grandchildren, family members, friends and Mahwah citizens.
