Mahwah 'Fared Very Well' In Tropical Storm Henri: Mayor
The storm dropped over three inches of rain, and raised water levels enough to close at least a portion of one road, officials said.
MAHWAH, NJ — Power outages and flooding peppered much of North Jersey as Tropical Storm Henri moved through the area, dropping heavy amounts of rain.
In Mahwah, where the storm brought over three inches of rain, Mayor Jim Wysocki said a "high water situation" did enough to close a portion of at least one road.
But the town "fared very well" compared to other municipalities in North Jersey, the mayor said Monday.

The National Weather Service reports that the township indeed saw more than three inches of rain as of 4:05 a.m. on Monday morning.
That likely won't be the last of the rain either, as the New York, New York office of the National Weather Service predicts more showers and thunderstorms in the region, which bring with them a risk of flash flooding.

Those storms are most likely in the afternoon and evening hours, and a flood watch has been issued for the region until 2 a.m. on Tuesday.
More storms could add problems for the northeastern part of the state, which is already seeing "minor to moderate mainstem river flooding," the NWS reports.

The rainfall Mahwah has already seen is having an effect on the township's roadways and water levels, according to the mayor.
"With the tropical storm upon us, I've been around observing the rivers and high water situation," said Wysocki on Sunday afternoon.
"The Masonicus brook, which runs from Airmont to Winters Pond, is extremely high. The roadway between N Railroad Ave and Devine Drive is over its banks and closed. The Mahwah river is high, as well as the Ramapo river, but they are within their banks."
