Unity Bank has donated $2,500 to the Elumis Foundation to help support the organization’s mission of providing families in impoverished areas of the world with solar kits. The foundation was founded by Franklin Lakes teenagers Eva and Michael Sakellakis who were inspired by their father’s solar energy business.

“The Elumis Foundation thanks Unity Bank for their generous donation, which will provide 25 families in Africa with electricity,” said Eva Sakellakis, 17, a senior at Indian Hills High School in Oakland. “The foundation will be making a large donation in Africa by the end of the year, which will be supported by Unity Bank.”

Michael Sakellakis, 15, a sophomore at Bergen County Academies, and Eva were motivated to help families in underdeveloped and impoverished countries after realizing the living conditions they must endure. The foundation provides solar kits, powered through solar panels, that can provide light and electricity for a family for up to 24 continuous hours.
