An 11-year-old walked in on Thomas Coughlin, 23, burglarizing his Wayne home Monday afternoon, police said.

Police have arrested a man they say burglarized a North Jersey home Monday afternoon and was caught in the act by an 11-year-old resident.
Thomas J. Coughlin, 23, of Pompton Lakes, was charged with burglary and theft after a boy reportedly walked in on him burglarizing his Wayne home at 3:20 p.m. Monday.
The boy immediately heard and saw the man, reportedly Coughlin, on the first floor of the house after coming home, said Detective Capt. Laurence Martin.

A security video system filmed the man alone in the house, Martin previously said. He immediately left the house through a back patio door.

Police found Coughlin at his Pompton Lakes home Tuesday morning. They arrested him, he was charged and items taken from the home were recovered, Martin said.
Wayne Police Detectives Dave Collins, Dennis Ferray and James Faber, along with Detective Sgts. Robert Simpson and Jay Celentano "worked diligently to bring his suspect into custody," Martin said.
Coughlin's bail was set at $50,000, police said.
