Wegmans To Open First Bergen County Store In 2017
The store will have a hot food café, organic salad bar, and coffee shop.

Bergen County’s first Wegmans grocery store will open next year, and have all the amenities local shoppers have come to expect from their grocery stores.
The 122,000-square-foot Montvale store will have:
- A café serving hot entrees, soups, and sandwiches
- Fresh, made-to-order sushi
- Coffee shop offering specialty coffee, tea, and breakfast sandwiches
- Organic salad bar
- Pizza shop
- A bakery featuring European breads
The Nature’s Marketplace will feature natural and organic foods.

There will also be a pharmacy, floral shop, and a section for health and beauty care products.
The store will have the look and feel of an open-air European market.

Construction began last September on the shopping center the Montvale-based store will call home. The store is going where the former DePiero’s Country Farm, a 91-year-old family-owned business, which closed down to make way for the $125 million project.
Wegmans first announced plans to build a store where the DePiero farm site in 2012.
The project was at the center of a court dispute where the now-defunct Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. (A&P) and four people and try to invalidate the amendment to Montvale’s master plan that allowed the project to be built.
Rochester, New York-based Wegmans was named one of the “best supermarket” by Consumer Reports last year. Fortune magazine named it one of the best companies to work for 19 consecutive years.
