MANALAPAN, NJ — Manalapan Police reported incidents of fraud, harassment, simple assault and more from April 22 through April 28.
April 22
A 66-year-old Manalapan resident reported that their social security number was used to file a tax return.
A 41-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone accessed their bank account and withdrew $62,500.
April 23
A report was filed regarding harassment between two neighbors in Manalapan. One of the subjects was 37 years old, and the other person involved was 69 years old.
April 24
A 79-year-old Manalapan resident filed a report documenting that they fell victim to a scam in which they transferred $25,000 to an unknown account after being convinced that their account was compromised.
At 2:28 p.m., a road rage incident occurred between a 30-year-old Manalapan resident and a 39-year-old Manalapan resident. Both reported that they were threatened with physical harm by the other.
April 25
A 33-year-old Union City resident reported that a cup of coffee was thrown at them during a verbal altercation with a 41-year-old Pennsylvania resident while shopping.
April 27
At 10:46 a.m., a 71-year-old Montclair resident reported the theft of their vehicle. The victim had brought the vehicle to a business in Manalapan for repairs about one year prior to making the report. The business subsequently closed, and the van was no longer at the property. Due to the whereabouts of their vehicle being unknown, the victim reported the vehicle stolen. The report is pending further investigation.
A 78-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone tried to open a bank account in their name. Upon learning of the account, the account was closed, and the victim is at no monetary loss.
April 28
At 9:33 a.m., a 53-year-old Allentown resident filed a report documenting that their wallet was stolen in Manalapan at a restaurant and their credit card was used shortly after, also at a business in Manalapan, where a charge of $42.65 was made.
An 81-year-old Englishtown resident filed a report documenting that they fell victim to a scam where they paid $10,700 to someone after being convinced that a family member needed the money. This incident is pending further investigation.
