MANALAPAN, NJ — A Manalapan Police Lieutenant has retired after 21 years of service to the local community.
In an online post, Manalapan Township Police congratulated Lt. Robert Herring on his retirement.
During his career, Herring served the department in numerous capacities, ranging from firearms instructor to active shooter instructor, commander of the department’s honor guard, detective bureau supervisor, and recruitment officer.
Herring also served as a long-time drill instructor at the Monmouth County Police Academy.
Prior to joining the department in 2005, he also served the nation as a U.S. Marine.
"Congratulations Lt. Herring on your retirement and thank you for your service to our country and the Manalapan Township community!" the department said. "Best of luck in retirement!"
