MANALAPAN, NJ — Manalapan Police reported incidents of fraud, theft, harassment and more from July 2 to July 6.
July 2
A Manalapan business reported that a Keyport resident was a potential victim of credit card fraud after an unknown actor tried to use the victim's credit card to purchase an item valued at $1,098.02. The incident is pending further investigation.
July 4
At 7:38 p.m., police responded to a home in reference to a dispute between neighbors. The victim, a 28- year-old Manalapan resident, reported that their neighbors lit off fireworks which landed in their yard. When they approached the neighbor, the victim reported that the neighbor threatened to light a firework directly at their house and burn it down. The victim was advised of the procedure to sign complaints.
July 5
At 3:51 a.m., police were dispatched to a home in Manalapan for an active fire within the garage that was found to be accidental.
July 6
At 9:43 a.m., police responded to a Manalapan business in reference to a theft of property. Upon arrival, the business reported that unknown actor(s) removed property valued at $13,260. This case is pending further investigation.
At 10:01 a.m., Ptlm. Hayden Hrymack was dispatched to a business in Manalapan that reported damage to their ATM that had occurred on July 4. This damage reportedly caused the machine not to be able to function.
At 2:39 p.m., police responded to a Manalapan business in reference to a theft of property. Upon arrival, the business reported that unknown actor(s) removed property valued at $7,600 in the morning hours of July 3. This case is pending further investigation.
A 52-year-old Manalapan resident reported that a known subject, who used to be a co-worker, had sent them harassing text messages. The victim was advised of the procedure to sign complaints.
A 79-year-old Manalapan resident reported that an unknown subject they have been communicating with through a podcast has been defrauding them by convincing them to send them money. The total reported loss is approximately $12,000.
