'An Unimaginable Heartbreak': Community Rallies Around Family Of NJ Woman Killed In Crash

The early morning crash occurred in mid-October and shut down part of Route 9 for hours.

MANALAPAN, NJ — The local community is rallying around the family of Kiera Cirkovic after she died in a car crash in mid-October.

In the early morning of Oct. 13, Manalapan Police responded to a crash that closed the southbound lanes of Route 9 at Symmes Drive for multiple hours.

Kiera Cirkovic, 22, of Jackson, and Thomas J. Dumon, 52, of Jackson, were later identified as the victims of the fatal crash.

Following the collision, an online fundraiser was started to support Kiera's family after her death.

Her sudden passing "has left an unimaginable heartbreak for those who knew and loved her, especially her sister, Emina," the fundraiser reads.

According to fundraiser organizers, the two "shared a bond that went far beyond being sisters."

"They were incredibly close, and Kiera was not only Emina's sister, but also one of the most important people in her life," organizers said. "Losing someone who has been by your side through so much is a pain that no words can truly describe."

With a limited family support system, Emina is now facing the reality of navigating life without her sister, organizers said.

Community members organized the online fundraiser to provide Emina with "financial support, peace of mind, and the ability to take the time she needs to process this unimaginable loss without the added weight of everyday financial pressures."

"No amount of money could ever replace Kiera or take away the pain of losing her," organizers said. "However, we hope that through the kindness and generosity of others, we can help ease even a small part of the burden Emina is carrying."

The fundraiser has a goal of $16,000. As of Tuesday afternoon, $4,200 has been raised.

Any donation, no matter the amount, "is deeply appreciated," the fundraiser reads.

For those unable to donate, organizers ask community members to share the fundraiser and keep Emina and Kiera in their thoughts and prayers.

"Let's come together to show Emina that although she has lost someone irreplaceable, she is not alone and has a community of people ready to support her," organizers said. "Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, compassion, and generosity during this incredibly difficult time."

"Rest in peace, Kiera. You will never be forgotten."
