The Middletown Arts Center is located at 36 Church Street, across from the train station in Middletown. The Puzzle Project pieces will be arranged by groups, so all the Monmouth County Library teen pieces will be displayed together.

Volunteers are needed to help set up the exhibition on Feb. 2, 3 and 4 after 2 p.m.. Monmouth County Library teens will receive volunteer credit for any set up work.

The Puzzle Project was born when Monmouth County Arts Council's Sandy Taylor wanted a way for each student’s individual voice to be included with others in a collaborative effort. She and artist Tim Kelly decided that a big "jigsaw puzzle" was a clever solution.

Each participant was given a 24"x24" blank foam-core puzzle piece. They could tell any story they want on their puzzle piece -- a painting, drawing, collage, words, mixed media, fabric...anything. The pieces can interlock for display as a large mural.

The pieces were distributed to several elementary school, high school art, writing & photography departments, as well as community arts groups and the teen program at the Monmouth County Library.

Puzzle Project workshops were held at seven Monmouth County Library branches: Allentown, Eastern Branch, Hazlet, Howell, Marlboro, Wall and the Headquarters in Manalapan. A mural of the pieces done by library participants hung in the lobby at the Library Headquarters in Manalapan last year.

Come view all the Puzzle Project pieces on Feb. 5 (and find your own!)
