April is "National Distracted Driving Awareness Month"
Sending one text, or receiving one phone call, could change everything.

The month of April is “National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.” When the drivers attention is taken away from the primary task at hand, it is considered distracted driving. When the driver is distracted, it can endanger many people including themselves, any passengers and any innocent bystanders. All drivers believe they can multi-task; THIS IS A MYTH. In 2013 alone, 26% of people killed in a car crash were caused by distracted drivers.
Tips for reducing distraction while driving include:
- Turn off your cell phone or put it on silent.
- Preset your GPS and music playlist before starting the car.
- Schedule stops to check your voicemail, texts or other messages.
- Instruct friends and family members not to call you when they know you are on the road.
- Install a phone app that disables calls and texts while driving.
