August is "National Immunization Awareness Month". Vaccines are extremely important. They teach our immune system to recognize and destroy bacteria and viruses before they can cause illness. There are vaccines for more than 25 different diseases. It is extremely important to keep vaccinations up-to-date for children and adults. Vaccines will protect us from diseases, they protect the people around us and they can help eliminate a disease.
