Airbrush vs. Traditional Makeup Application

Many people have asked me which is better and why.  After working in this industry for over 30 years, I think I am qualified to at least have an opinion so here it is :)

I love traditional application - if applied correctly it is long-lasting & flawless.  I can teach my clients how to achieve the look at home - something I can never do with professional airbrush (keep the pods - you can't blend the colors and I see many overly sprayed people walking around).  There is something about working with brushes, my fingers, and hands that is very artistic.  My clients have all these tools as well!

Airbrush makeup application has its place as well - if you are getting married or attending a special occasion in the hot, humid months (between April and September) I would opt for airbrush makeup application, as it is pretty much water proof.  Airbrush is sprayed onto the face through an aircompressor gun.  Why would anyone want that?  Well the answer is hi definition and megapixels - it is like being under a microscope and you don't want the makeup to show so by being sprayed in microscopic dots it is virtually undetectable on film.  

Traditional application is also virtually undetectable.  I would let the time of year, temperature and humidity guide my decision.
