No Parking of Commercial Vehicles on Residential Streets!

I have been living on Eastwood Blvd in Manalapan for 26 years and it has always been a beautiful, quiet residential street.  However, in the past two years, we have been dealing with a neighbor who insists on parking his commercial van on our street even though he knows that his neighbors are unhappy about it. How does he know? We have spoken to him, sent him a certified letter expressing our displeasure, called the police, and contacted the Manalapan Township's Department of Zoning/Enforcement.  Still we have to see the truck with his business’ logo in large and bright colors every day parked in front of his house. 

The township ordinance prohibits the parking of trucks on private property and on residential streets with the following exceptions:  (1) any motor vehicle having no more than four wheels or tires, one on each axle, and (2) vehicles which are actively engaged in loading or unloading of persons, goods, wares or merchandise and/or vehicles which are actively engaged in the performance of a service.

I believe that Manalapan Township needs to re-visit and amend their ordinance so that, even if a motor vehicle has “no more than four wheels or tires, one on each axle” and it is not “actively engaged in the unloading of persons, goods, wares or merchandise” or is “actively engaged in the performance of a service” but it is clearly a commercial vehicle with business advertising on it, that commercial vehicle should not be allowed to park on any residential street. 

We must take steps to preserve Manalapan’s residential streets so that they do not turn into an advertisement for businesses. Unfortunately, as of now, we on Eastwood Blvd are just going to have to deal with an "un-neighborly" neighbor living among us.
