Unearth a Story: An Adult Studio Series Inspired by Prehistory: Big Dino Energy: A Playful Drawing Workshop

In this lighthearted adult workshop, we’ll explore the value of humor in the creative process. Using a guided draw-along format, participants will learn practical drawing techniques while sketching a brontosaurus, which the artist can then place into a modern-day scenario. Working with vibrant Prismacolor pencils, we’ll explore techniques along the way to bring the scene to life. The focus is twofold: strengthening drawing fundamentals while cultivating humor and flexibility. By approaching drawing with playfulness, we loosen perfectionism and reconnect with imagination. Expect a refreshing studio experience that balances clear instruction with vibrant color and genuine fun. No prerequisite skills required- all are welcome.

About the presenter: Jenny Santa Maria is a multifaceted talent as a teaching artist, art coach, and exhibiting artist from Farmingdale, NJ. Her work has garnered recognition in various esteemed publications, including Jersey Shore Magazine and The Wall Street Journal. Throughout her extensive career, Jenny has touched the lives of a wide-ranging audience, both within traditional classroom settings and beyond. After a decade of teaching, she drew on her experience in special education to become an art coach, empowering individuals who struggle with perfectionism, self-doubt, and anxiety to see their creative potential. Her dedication to creative empowerment has led her to work in diverse environments, from retreat centers and libraries to art museums and galleries nationwide.
