“The Strength of Song and Dance” will feature evocative music and rhythmic movements traditional to the Lenape and Nanticoke tribes, and modern to all indigenous people.
The Gould-Ellis family, descendants belonging to Nanticoke & Lenape communities, and representatives of Lenapehoking Reestablishment Project, will be exhibiting some of these dance styles, educating the public on a variety of art forms, and speaking on how some untold histories of Indigenous people have directly impacted how Lenape people live today."
Lenapehoking Reestablishment Project is geared towards the promoting of Lenape awareness, supporting of tribal youth, & public relations. Lenapehokink (pronounced Lenapehoking, and thus reflected that way in the spell of this project) is the name of the land or our (Lenape) ancestors, encompassing all of New Jersey, and parts of DE, PA, and NY. Started by enrolled citizens of Tribal Nations within the territory of Lenapehoking, the Lenapehoking Reestablishment Project (LRP) is an entity working outside of the capacity of the originating Nation. It prides itself on existing for the people, by the people. With roots in Lenapehoking, the lands of our ancestors, we hope to first build up a portfolio and following of our surrounding communities and organizations that can assist in bringing the public awareness, as well as establishing footholds within our territory. This is currently limited to the Lenape of this area, but with intentions to extend outside to all nations in Lenapehoking, as well as Lenape who descend from Lenape people who were once displaced from the lands of their ancestors.
