Carlo's Bakery Partners with Make-A-Wish to Make Wishes Come True

Danny Dragone To Shave 30-Year-Old Mustache

Danny Dragone of Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, NJ and TLC’s Cake Boss fame has announced that he will shave his mustache for the first time in over 30 years to benefit Make-A-Wish.

Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Danny Shaves for Wishes campaign has officially kicked off, and the public is encouraged to help support Danny’s effort by making a donation to the campaign website at wish.org/dannyshaves.

Danny has announced that if he raises $25,000 by August 9th, Buddy Valastro and Ralph Attanasia, also of Carlo’s Bakery and TLC’s Cake Boss will shave Danny’s mustache on the balcony of the Samuel & Josephine Plumeri Wishing Place, home of Make-A-Wish New Jersey.

“Make-A-Wish New Jersey is in its 34th year of making wishes come true – we’ve been around almost as long as Danny’s mustache!” shared Tom Weatherall, President & CEO for Make-A-Wish New Jersey. “Our friends at Carlo’s Bakery have always shown us that they believe in the power of a wish. It is an honor that Danny has decided to part with his famous mustache and create a campaign that would benefit Make-A-Wish. We are proud to call Danny, Ralph, and of course Buddy, who by the way has served on our honorary board for many years, dear friends. We consider the entire Carlo’s Bakery team part of the Make-A-Wish famiglia!”

Make-A-Wish America was founded in 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona. Make-A-Wish New Jersey was founded in 1983, the third of 62 chapters operating throughout the United States and its territories. Since 1983, Make-A-Wish New Jersey has granted the wishes of over 9,000 local children with life-threatening medical conditions. Nationally, the organization has reached over 285,000 children in its 37-year history.

Buddy Valastro, Danny Dragone, Ralph Attanasia and the Carlo’s Bakery family are no strangers to the power of a wish, either. Since the first wish to bake a cake with Buddy was granted in 2010, dozens of children from around the world have experienced the power of a wish with Buddy and his team. “When I heard that Danny [Dragone] and Ralph [Attanasia] came up with this awesome idea to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, I was floored!” exclaims Buddy Valastro. “Danny has had that mustache for as long as Ralph’s been alive, so this is truly a major happening around Carlo’s Bakery. We’re all so excited to shave him and we’re even more excited that it’s for such a good cause. We love working with the foundation and touching the lives of others. Let’s do this, baby!”
