Discolored Water In Manalapan? Could Be Hydrant Flushing

Residents may notice a discoloration in the water when hydrants are flushed in their areas of town, officials said.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Manalapan Township has announced that the spring flushing of fire hydrants will take place over the next several weeks.

Flushing fire hydrants removes minerals and sediment that have accumulated over time and ensures that all fire hydrants are in good working order, officials said.

During the flushing, residents may experience a difference in water pressure and discoloration of the water, officials said. Run the cold-water tap only until it runs clear if it is discolored.
