Manalapan, NJ - The Off-Site training Company of First Aid, LLC has donated two AED's to the Township of Manalapan.

Founder, CEO and National Director of Training, Steve Ross has been offering training in CPR/AED, First Aid and other safety skills through his company since 2011. Based out of and as a resident of Manalapan Twp., Steve Ross realized that the Manalapan Twp. Community Center as well as the Manalapan Twp. Senior Center lacked an AED. An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a lightweight, portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart. The shock can potentially stop an irregular heart beat and allow a normal rhythm to rescue following sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). SCA occurs when the heart malfunctions and stops beating unexpectedly. If not treated within minutes, it quickly leads to death. Most SCAs results from ventricular fibrillation (VFib). (VFib) is a rapid and unsynchronized heart rhythm. The heart must be "defibrillated" quickly, because a victim's chance of surviving drops by 7 to 10 percent for every minute a normal heartbeat isn't restored.

“As an instructor and a Firefighter/EMT, I know how important it is to get an AED to a victim of SCA as soon as possible. The community center and the senior center are both vital parts of the township and are used by members of the township. With an AED on location, the ability to restart someone’s heart in the event of a SCA is now within seconds instead of minutes. When an emergency occurs, what are you going to do? “Calling 9-1-1 is the most important thing, but offering immediate help is another, says Steve Ross”. Now with the AED on location, both can be done.

First Aid & CPR, LLC will be at the Manalapan Twp. Senior Center on Friday June 7, 2019 at 10:30 am to demo some CPR skills and how the AED is used. We invite all media outlets to attend.

First Aid & CPR, LLC was founded by Steve Ross, a volunteer Firefighter/EMT with over 40 years of Emergency Services experience. The company teaches First Aid & CPR, Pet First Aid & CPR, courses for businesses such as Restaurant Safety, Active Shooter Awareness, Babysitting courses and much more. First Aid & CPR, LLC is an off-site company which brings the training to you.
