
1. United Families of African Descent will host their annual Valentine's Day Ball at 7:30 p.m. at the Battleground Country Club, 40 Millhurst Road. The event costs $45 per person and includes 4 course meal, dinner and dancing and a cash bar. Proceeds go towards two $500 scholarships which will be given to students from FRHSD. 2. The Center Playhouse began a four-week run of Neil Simon’s last night. But tickets are available for tonight's 8 p.m. performance. The play is perfect for those looking to treat their special someone to a night at the theatre. The play centers on newlyweds Paul and Corie Bratter. Tickets are $24 for adults and $22 for students and seniors.
3. The Manalapan Varisty Braves Ice Hockey team will hit the ice against Howell High School at 7:45 at the Gold Coast Arena, 1215 Wyckoff Rd, Farmingdale.

4. Know of any historic buildings in Manalapan or Englishtown that you think are worthy of recognition? The Monmouth County Historical Commission is accepting nominations for its annual preservation awards program. Any structure, including office buildings, houses of worship, public buildings and homes, that is over 50 years old, has historic value, and has undergone preservation work in 2010 is eligible for the award.
Visit Monmouth County’s Web site for entry information and an application. Completed applications should be mailed to Monmouth County Historical Commission, Hall of Records Annex, 2nd floor, Freehold, NJ 07728 by Friday, April 1.
