1. The Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education will hold a special meeting at the administration building at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The board’s agenda includes a resolution approving the employment of Charles Sampson as superintendent. The resolution that the board will be voting on specifies a four-year term at a salary of $177,500.

2. The Manalapan Boys Varsity Basketball team will tip off against Manchester High School at 4 p.m. at Manchester, 70 Church Street in Haledon. The Braves are seeded 14th in the Shore Conference Tournament while Manchester is 19th.

3. Dine at Applebee's today and present this and 10 percent of your bill will be donated to the Freehold Memorial Day Parade.

4. Know of any historic buildings in Manalapan or Englishtown that you think are worthy of recognition? The Monmouth County Historical Commission is accepting nominations for its annual preservation awards program. Any structure, including office buildings, houses of worship, public buildings and homes, that is over 50 years old, has historic value, and has undergone preservation work in 2010 is eligible for the award.

Visit Monmouth County’s Web site for entry information and an application. Completed applications should be mailed to Monmouth County Historical Commission, Hall of Records Annex, 2nd floor, Freehold, NJ 07728 by Friday, April 1.
