Fraud, Harassment, Assault: Manalapan Police Blotter

Manalapan Police reported six incidents of fraud from March 11 through March 17.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Manalapan Police reported incidents of fraud, harassment, assault and more from March 11 through March 17.

March 11

A 79-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone tried to fraudulently withdraw $28,000 from their account, but was not successful. The victim reported that they received an alert on their cell phone reporting a change to one of their accounts. The victim contacted the number provided and then realized it was a scam.

At 12:55 p.m., patrols responded to the area of Route 33 west and Anderson Place for a motor vehicle crash. The driver of one of the vehicles was charged with driving under the influence and was also found to have an active warrant for their arrest out of Seaside Heights Municipal Court. The driver was arrested and brought to Manalapan Township Police HQ, where they were processed and released after posting bail. The driver was charged with driving under the influence, refusal to submit a breath sample, reckless driving, and careless driving.

A 31-year-old Manalapan resident reported two fraudulent charges to their personal bank account totaling $1,720. The victim was not at any monetary loss as their bank stopped these charges.

March 12

A business in Manalapan reported that a check they had issued totaling $8,728 was altered, then blocked when an attempt to cash it was made.

A 36-year-old Manalapan resident reported that on March 2, there were three separate fraudulent withdrawals from their personal bank account to unknown people totaling $22,587.

At 6:56 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a residential area in Manalapan for a report of a fight between two unknown men. The area was checked and the two appeared to have left the area.

Several Manalapan residents reported being harassed by a 43-year-old Manalapan resident via text message.

March 13

A 28-year-old Manalapan resident reported being harassed by a 26-year-old Princeton resident on their social media account and through text messaging.

A 44-year-old Manalapan resident reported being harassed by an ex-coworker via text messages and email after they were let go from the company.

March 14

A 68-year-old Manalapan resident reported that at some point over the last seven months, unknown people removed numerous pieces of jewelry from their home, along with $500 in cash. The value of the jewelry is unknown at this time, and the report is pending further investigation.

A 58-year-old Manalapan resident reported an incident of criminal mischief. The victim reported that unknown people threw rocks at their vehicles while they were parked in their driveway.

March 17

An 80-year-old Manalapan resident reported fraudulent transactions were made on their bank account. The victim is at a monetary loss of $81,500. The report is pending further investigation.

A Manalapan business reported that someone created a fraudulent business check in the amount of $1,680.11 and attempted to cash the check. The bank was able to cancel the transaction, and the victim is at no loss at this time.

A 23-year-old Manalapan resident reported being harassed by a co-worker through text messages.
