The debate between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton over the US Constitution will be dramatized April 23 at the Manalapan library.

MANALAPAN, NJ – Did you know? Thursday, April 13 is Thomas Jefferson's birthday. And to commemorate it, the debate between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton over the U.S. Constitution is being dramatized at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters next Sunday, April 23, at 2 p.m.

The American Historical Theatre of Philadelphia, which has created performances for the Smithsonian Institution and the History Channel in addition to many other theaters, will present “The Great Debate,” featuring Steve Edenbo and Eben Kuhns as the two founding fathers embroiled in opposing interpretations of what the Constitution says about states and national rights. In this live historical performance, the actors will focus on the two authorities of state and federal governments, as well as the need for compromise and how it played a vital role in the formation of the federal government.

There is no charge for the presentation and no reservations are necessary. Seating will be on a first come first served basis. Persons wishing further information on this and all programs at the Monmouth County library can visit www.monmouthcountylib.org.
