High School Student Video Contest

“Substance Abuse – Prevention and Persuasion” - High School Student Video Contest

Goal: Preventing Substance Abuse by Engaging Youth and Challenging them to Create Video Messages with a Preventive and/or Persuasive Message.

All High School students from Manalapan or Englishtown or students from other towns that attend Manalapan High School, are invited to participate in a video project contest. Videos need to communicate a message that informs, educates or in principle, dissuades fellow youth from using drugs or alcohol or vaping.

Awards: A single $250.00 award will be presented to the video judged to be the most persuasive and two (2) $100.00 awards will be presented to the Runner-ups.

The Contest is open now. The contest will close on March 31, 2019. Judging will follow thereafter. Results will be announced at the beginning of May.

What you need to know:

1. Video must be no more than 90 seconds in total length from opening credits to black screen.
2. There shall be no depiction of real illegal drugs or real life visualization of the use of drugs. There shall be no depiction of the consumption of alcohol.
3. There shall be no profanity or bullying. There shall be no depiction of any illegal activity.
4. Filming locations need to be on premises where persons are legally entitled to be and with approval of owner/operator.
5. People in video need to have given assent to being filmed.
6. Only one (1) cash award will be awarded to a submission, regardless of the number of people in the video or working on the video.
7. There shall be one (1) submitting individual, who shall have done all the final editing and production work.
8. Adult guidance in designing and editing is allowable, but video must be a product of the youth and reflective of the youth’s skill and ability.
9. Videos will become the property of the Manalapan-Englishtown Community Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and may be used on Manalapan Township, Englishtown Borough and Project ZERO websites and the Manalapan Township Television Network as well in community presentations.

Entries may be submitted via attachment to an email to projectzero@mtnj.org or via deliver of a
flash drive to the Manalapan Health Department by March 31, 2019. Attachment files should be either Youtube,Vimeo of Google Drive.
