Hillsborough Man Accidentally Takes Manalapan Woman's Bench: Police

The whole thing was just a misunderstanding, it looks like.

MANALAPAN, NJ-- A Hillsborough man picked up a custom bench from a Manalapan home on Sept. 22 in a prearranged deal, police say.

The problem? He took home the wrong bench.

The 62 year old man drove down to Manalapan to pick up a bench he'd prearranged with the owner, according to the police blotter. He put it in his car, and went home.

A little while later, a 58-year-old Manalapan woman found her handmade bench missing from her front yard, according to police. She called the police to report the theft.

Eventually Hillsborough police found the man, and the bench was returned to Manalapan with no problems. Turns out, the man just had the wrong house.
