Lunch Out Results In Theft Of $3,000, Manalapan Police Report

Fraudulent charges were made on a woman's credit card after it was stolen at a Manalapan restaurant, police say.

MANALAPAN, NJ — A day out for lunch out at a popular chain restaurant ended up with a $3,000 loss to a Manalapan resident, police here reported.

On Jan. 9, a 66-year-old resident reported to police that someone removed a wallet from a purse while at Panera Bread, Route 9 in Manalapan, Capt. Leonard Maltese reported in a weekly crime report.

Approximately $3,000 in fraudulent purchases were then reportedly made using a stolen credit card.

Patrolman Peter Pagano is investigating the theft.

There were other recent thefts reported in town, according to police:

  • On Jan. 10, a Monroe resident reported that someone stole equipment valued at approximately $2,200 from a Pension Road Business sometime during the course of the last 4 months.
  • On Jan. 7, a Jersey City resident reported that someone on an unspecified date entered a Stratford Drive residence and removed tools valued between $1,200 and $1,500.

Both incidents are under investigation.
