Man Charged With Assault At Manalapan Wawa

MANALAPAN, NJ — A fight broke out at the Manalapan Wawa on Woodward Road last Thursday, and a man was arrested inside the store carrying a "large, sharp-edged object," police said.

Manalapan police were called to the Woodward Road Wawa at approximately 12:51 p.m. last Thursday, March 21. The victim, a 28-year-old Freehold man, said another man assaulted him in the parking lot and then continued threatening him inside the store.

Police said Alexander Harris, 39, also of Freehold and who works as a delivery driver, was found inside the Wawa with the large, sharp-edged object, which police said was not a knife but did not define exactly what it was.

Harris was charged with assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility.

There were no serious injuries. Neither man works at the Wawa.
