Man Saved With Naloxone After Heroin Overdose in Englishtown

This is the second time this Englishtown resident has had to be revived with naloxone, police said. He overdosed last summer as well.

Englishtown, NJ - Englishtown police used naloxone nasal spray to save a local resident there who had overdosed on suspected heroin last Wednesday, police said.

Just after 6 p.m. on Aug. 24, Englishtown police officers were dispatched to a home in the borough for a request for a cardiopulmonary resuscitation; Patrolman Adam Liotta, Patrolman Michael Makwinski and Special Officer Kevin Romano responded, reported Greater Media Newspapers.

When officers arrived, they found the man had overdosed on suspected heroin. Liotta administered the naloxone by spraying it into his nose, and the man was revived in a matter of minutes.

This is the second time this particular man has been saved by naloxone, police told the newspaper. The first time he was revived was in the summer of 2015. This is the third time Englishtown police officers have successfully used naloxone. The man declined to be taken to a hospital and declined any additional medical assistance.
