Manalapan Attorney Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison

Matthew Nuegeboren admitted he stole more than $2.6 million from the home healthcare company where he was in-house counsel, the FBI says.

Manalapan, NJ - A Manalapan lawyer who admitted last year he stole more than $2.6 million from the home healthcare company he worked for was sentenced to 18 months in prison Tuesday in Trenton.

Matthew S. Neugeboren, 39, of Manalapan, admitted in May of 2015 he stole the money while he served as in-house counsel for the unnamed Ocean County-based home healthcare business. He spent it on gambling and other personal expenses, he admitted at the time.

Nuegeboren served as in-house counsel there from 2006 through 2013. He used his attorney trust account to claim inflated expenses from his employer, and pocketed the difference, federal prosecutors said.
