Manalapan High School Briefly Evacuated Thursday Morning Because of Gas Odor

Manalapan High School students were allowed back into the building shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday.

Manalapan High School was evacuated Thursday morning as a precaution because of the smell of gas, according to a note posted on the Freehold Regional School District’s website.

“Local authorities investigated and subsequently allowed everyone to return to the building at approximately 10:05 a.m.,’’ the message from the high school principal said.

Deputy Police Chief Michael Fountain said the fire department went to the school because of the reported smell of gas in the area, but by 10:25 a.m., no problems had been found.
