Manalapan Man Charged with Child Porn

He uploaded one photo on June 1, police say. When they came to his Blenheim Road home Monday, they found more, officials say.

MANALAPAN, NJ - A Manalapan man has been arrested on child pornography charges, according to a public criminal complaint released by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. Sean Gillet, 32, of Blenheim Road was arrested Monday, Dec. 12. He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child by knowingly receiving or offering online materials that depicted a child in a prohibited sex act.

Specifically, Gillet uploaded one image of child pornography to Chatstep on June 1 of this year, prosecutors allege. Chatstep is software that allows people to share files and images. Police came to his home to arrest him Monday and execute a search warrant. They seized various computers and personal electronic devices from the home, and that's when they found more child pornography on a USB thumb drive kept in his bedroom, police said. Chatstep initially reported the June 1 upload to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The IP address that uploaded the image was matched to Gillet's home, according to the prosecutor's office.

Gillet is currently being held on a $150,000 bail, with no 10 percent option, due to the seriousness of the crime, Monmouth County prosecutors said. He was charged with one count each of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Distribution of Child Pornography) and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Possession of Child Pornography).
