Manalapan Man In Wheelchair Hit By Car

He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for his injuries

MANALAPAN, NJ-- An elderly Manalapan man in a wheelchair was hit by a car, police say. It was unclear why the man was in the street at the time of the accident.

The 69-year-old was crossing the road in an electric powered wheelchair in Manalapan when he was struck by a driver in a midsized car. The accident happened around 4:30 on Sept. 12 on Gordon's Corner Road near Saratoga Drive.

He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment for his injuries. The driver, a 63-year-old man, did not report any injuries.
The westbound lane of Gordon's Corner Road was closed for about five hours as a result of the crash.

No summonses have been issued pending the outcome of an investigation into the crash, led by the Manalapan Township Traffic Safety Unit.
