Road rage, thefts at the Englishtown Auction, and a burglary in which someone stole a mini-refrigerator were among the cases recently investigated by Manalapan police.

According to a news release from Deputy Police Chief Michael Fountain:

Around 6:40 p.m., a 57-year-old Manalapan man went to police headquarters to report a theft. The victim said his cell phone from stolen inside a store at the Englishtown Auction around 3 p.m. that day. The cell phone was described as a black Samsung Galaxy with an approximate value of $600. The case is pending further investigation. Officer Sean McCarthy handled the report.

At 12:29 p.m. an 80-year-old Manalapan man, who is a vendor at the Englishtown Auction, reported that he believes his wallet was taken out of his vehicle at the Englishtown Auction. He reported that the wallet contained approximately $100, multiple credit cards, and his driver’s license. There are no suspects at this time. Officer Matthew Mattia handled the incident.

May 23

At 1:44 p.m. an incident of harassment was reported to this agency. The victim, a 46-year-old Manalapan man, related that he was harassed during a road rage/aggressive driver incident around 1:40 p.m. An older model dark SUV blocked his vehicle from traveling on Tennent Road. The incident is under investigation by Officer Jeff Emslie.

May 22

Around 8:38 p.m., Officer Christopher Makwinski responded to Hedgerow Lane for a report of harassment. The caller, a 49-year-old Manalapan man reported that he and his son had a confrontation with their neighbor, a 35-year-old man. The involved subjects advised the incident stemmed from a previous road rage incident. The case is pending complaints. Officer Christopher Makwinski handled the incident.

Around 4 p.m., a 67-year-old Manalapan man reported receiving harassing phone calls during the early morning hours. The complainant related that the harassing phone calls have been occurring over the past five days. The complainant was advised on the procedure to block incoming calls from certain numbers. Officer Brian Cruse handled the report.

Around 3:50 p.m., Officer Matthew Mattia responded to a Knox Lane residence in reference to a motor vehicle accident that involved a vehicle striking a residence. Upon arrival to the scene officers conducted an investigation and the driver Michael J. Beirne, 53, of Manalapan, was charged with DWI. Prior to being transported to headquarters EMS was contacted due to an unknown condition and Beirne was transported to Centra State Medical Center in Freehold Township. He was released on summonses with a mandatory court date.

May 21

Around 4:35 p.m., Officer Christopher Oleksy responded to the Stop and Shop on Tennent Road in reference to the passing of counterfeit money. It was learned that on May 19, a Western Union transfer was completed at the store. Police beliee that was when the counterfeit currency was passed. No suspect description at this time and the case is pending further investigation.

At 4:33 p.m., Officer Jean Letts responded to a Pinebrook Road residence in reference to damage sustained to the resident’s vehicle. The victim, a 56-year-old Manalapan man advised he found 13 nails in his front passenger tire. There are no suspects at this time.

May 20

Around 6:05 p.m., Officer Christopher Oleksy was dispatched to a Church Lane home for a burglary of the residence and theft of a refrigerator. Someone made entry into the residence and removed a Black and Decker mini-refrigerator. Anyone with information about the incident should contact this agency. The case is still under investigation.
