Manalapan police investigated two burglaries on the same street in town, and they say an attempted luring incident is similar to another case in Ocean County.

At approximately 9:38 p.m., patrols responded to Winged Foot Drive for a report of a burglary. Patrols met with the 45-year-old victim. She related that some time between 7:30 p.m. on May 30 and 3 a.m. on May 31, someone made entry to the residence by removing a window screen and entering through an unlocked window. The victim related that nothing had been taken from the residence. Officer Brian Cruse investigated the incident.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., a 40-year-old Manalapan woman responded to headquarters with her 13-year-old son and his 12-year-old friend to report that while walking on Lamb Lane at approximately 11:15 a.m. that day a white male in his late 50s with a tan complexion, wavy shoulder length brown hair with some gray, brownish gray mustache, and wrinkles or bags underneath his eyes approached the juveniles in his vehicle and asked them if they could help him find his cat. The juveniles ran away from the scene and the male continued driving on Lamb Lane towards Sweetman’s Lane. The juveniles described the vehicle as a silver four-door sedan with New Jersey license plates. The incident matches a similar incident that occurred on May 30 in Jackson. Officer Matthew Mattia handled the report.

At 4:15 p.m. patrols responded to Winged Foot Drive for a report of a burglary that took place sometime between noon on May 29 and 4:15 p.m. May 31. The 53-year-old victim related the suspect made entry through a rear window and removed several pieces of jewelry. The thief then left the residence through a rear sliding door. Along with the jewelry, the screen to the window in which entry was made, was missing as well. Officer Anthony Cascella investigated the incident.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., Officer Sean McCarthy responded to Wawa on Union Hill Road for a report of theft. An employee alleges that a woman placed a box of Wawa Coffee in her purse and exited the store without paying. The employee further related that the same woman has stolen from the store on two previous dates. The woman is alleged to have stolen three boxes of coffee which has a total value of $29.97. This case is open pending further investigation by Officer McCarthy.

May 29

At 9:29 p.m. Edyn Miculax-Marroquin, 23, of Manalapan resident was stopped for a motor vehicle violation and found to be driving while intoxicated. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released on motor vehicle summonses charging him with DWI, reckless driving, and failure to maintain a lane. His case is pending court. Chief Christopher Marsala and Officer Brian Cruse handled the incident.

At 8:10 p.m. a 73-year-old Manalapan woman reported that someone ripped an old Verizon Fios cable box off of the side of her residence causing damage to the box and to her siding. The cable box was then left on her driveway. Officer Brian Cruse investigated.

At approximately 3:53 p.m., a 45-year-old Manalapan man reported criminal mischief to his vehicle. During the overnight hours of May 28 to May 29 someone vandalized his vehicle, specifically by keying the driver side door. The damage was estimated to be approximately $300. Officer Christopher Makwinski handled the investigation.

At approximately noon, a 31-year-old Manalapan man reported that an engagement ring was stolen from his residence. The ring was said to be valued at $17,700. Patrolman Kevin McIntosh handled the report.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. Patrolman John Lightbody responded to a residence on Meadow Court for a theft report. The victim, a 44-year-old woman, reported two wrought iron lawn chairs were taken from her property during the night hours of May 28. The lawn chairs are valued at $90 each. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Manalapan Township Police Department. Patrolman John Lightbody handled the report.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., a 62-year-old Manalapan woman arrived at headquarters to file a fraud report. The victim related she was called by the IRS to send them a sum of money for unpaid taxes or she would be arrested. The victim sent the sum of money via money order. The incident was a scam. The Manalapan Township Police Department is urging residents to be aware of these types of scams and to contact the police department if you are unsure whether someone is trying to con you. Patrolman Matt Porricelli handled the report.
