Manalapan Police Blotter, Dec. 3 - Dec. 9

Someone stole an $800 Christmas music/light synchronization box from the front yard of a home on Shepard Way on Dec. 7.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Released by the Manalapan police department and unedited by Patch, all of last week's arrests and incidents:

Warrant Arrest

On Sunday, December 9, 2018 at approximately 4:47 p.m., Elliot Bell, a 24-year-old, unmarried, production technician, male resident of Jackson, NJ was arrested by Jackson Police Department on an outstanding ATS warrant issued by the Manalapan Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1,000. Mr. Bell was turned over to the Manalapan Police Department and later transported by patrols to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending court. Patrolman J. Morgan Joiner was the arresting officer.

Fraud

On Dec. 9, 2018 at approximately 5:10 p.m., a 65-year-old Manalapan Township resident reported a fraudulent incident. The victim related he formed a social media friendship with the suspect who was from Ghana. The suspect was able to convince the victim to lend her more then $10,000 over a six-month period. Due to the suspect's lack of communication recently, the victim realized this
incident was a scam and reported it to this agency. This incident was handled by Ptl. Christopher Makwinski.

Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams and drug paraphernalia

On Saturday December 8, 2018 at 9:17 p.m., Patrolman John Lightbody conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 33 after observing a motor vehicle violation. The driver, Daniel Tal, a 24-year-old, unmarried, Manalapan resident, employed as a landscaper, was found to be in possession of marijuana under 50 grams and drug paraphernalia. Tal was transported to the Manalapan Township Police Department where he was processed and released pending a court date. Patrolman John Lightbody handled the arrest.

Theft
On Friday, December 7, 2018 at 5:00 p.m., Ptl. Adam Sosnowski responded to a residence on Shepard Way for a report of a theft of a Christmas decoration. Upon arrival, Ptl. Adam Sosnowski met with the 38-year-old victim who related that sometime between 7:00 p.m. on December 5, 2018 and 5:00 p.m. on December 7, 2018 someone had stolen a music/light synchronization box valued at $800 from her front yard. The box synchronized the outside Christmas lights with music. Ptl. Adam Sosnowski handled the report.

Warrant Arrest

On Thursday, December 6, 2018 at approximately 11:48 p.m., Patrolman Kyle Williams conducted a motor vehicle stop for a traffic violation on US Highway 9. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Devin Teal, a 20-year-old, unmarried, laborer, male, resident of Jackson, NJ, was found to have a warrant issued for his arrest by the Marlboro Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1,000. Mr. Teal was placed under arrest and transported to the Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after posting bail. Patrolman Kyle Williams was the arresting officer.

Fraud
On Thursday December 6, 2018 at 9:53 a.m. a report of fraud was reported to this agency. Unknown actors used the company name, bank account and routing number of a business located in Manalapan Township and sent fraudulent checks to several people throughout the country. At this time, no money has been lost. The incident is currently under investigation by Ptl. Jeff Emslie.

Warrant Arrest
On Wednesday December 5, 2018 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Patrolman Matthew Meyler initiated a motor vehicle stop on US Highway 9 South. The driver of the vehicle, Oleg Preisman, a 64-year-old, self employed, divorced, male, who resides in Manalapan Township, was found to have a $588 traffic warrant for his arrest out of Middletown, NJ. Preisman was arrested, transported to Manalapan Police Headquarters and later transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.

Fraud
On Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at approximately 3:40 p.m., Patrolman Kevin Ruditsky responded to police headquarters in regard to a fraud incident. The victim was identified as a 55-year-old female Manalapan resident. It was determined that unknown actor(s) had utilized the victim’s personal information and conducted a bank transfer in the amount of $8,000 to another unknown bank account. This investigation is pending further investigation.

Simple Assault
On Wednesday December 5, 2018, at 7:49 a.m., the victim, a 55-year-old resident of Eatontown, NJ, responded to this agency to report an assault. Victim reported that she was slapped in the hand by an employee yesterday afternoon. The incident took place at a township group home. Ptl. Ross Dessel took the report.

Warrant Arrest
On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, 4:00 p.m., Angelo Centeno, a 50-year-old, married, male, resident of South Amboy, NJ, who is employed as delivery driver, turned himself in at Manalapan Township Police Headquarters regarding a warrant that was issued for his arrest by the Manalapan Township Municipal Court in the amount of $600. Mr. Centeno was processed and released after posting bail. Patrolman Charles Mazzatto handled the arrest.

Fraud
On Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at approximately 2:03 p.m., Patrolman Philip Accatatta responded to police headquarters in regard to a fraud incident. The victim was identified as a 53-year-old female Manalapan resident. It was determined that unknown actor(s) had utilized the victim’s personal information and conducted multiple transactions on the victim’s Verizon account totaling $3,147.70. This investigation is pending further investigation.

Shoplifting/Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose

On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at 12:36 p.m., loss-prevention employees of the Target department store, located at 55 Route 9 South, reported an incident of shoplifting, in which the subject was using a knife to remove merchandise. Leonard Cacciatore, a 38-year-old, unemployed, single, male resident of Freehold, NJ, was subsequently placed under arrest for shoplifting $399.96 worth of merchandise. Mr. Cacciatore was transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after being issued a summons. Patrolman Kyle Williams was the arresting officer.

Fraud
On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at approximately 12:29 p.m., a 44-year-old Manalapan resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report that an unknown actor(s) used the victim’s personal information in an attempt to open a phone account. No monetary loss was reported as a result of this incident. Patrolman Kyle Williams took the report, which is pending further investigation.

Warrant Arrest

On Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at approximately 8:18 a.m., Patrolman Kyle Williams conducted a motor vehicle stop for a traffic violation on Tennent Road. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Joseph Postorino, a 44-year-old, married, salesman, male resident of Manalapan, NJ was found to have a warrant issued for his arrest by the Freehold Township Municipal Court in the amount of
$2,000 and a warrant issued for his arrest by Sea Girt Municipal Court in the amount of $500. Mr. Postorino was placed under arrest and transported to the Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and subsequently transferred to Freehold Township Police Department. Patrolman Kyle Williams was the arresting officer.

Shoplifting
On Monday, December 3, 2018 at 1:03 p.m., an employee of Marshalls responded to police headquarters to report a shoplifting incident. The employee alleges that on November 2, 2018 at 12:49 p.m. two known subjects exited the store without rendering payment of various merchandise valued at $729.90. The employee was directed to Manalapan Township Municipal Court to sign criminal complaints. This incident was handled by Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis.

Structure Fire
On Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:38 p.m., a structure fire was reported at a McBride Road business. The Gordon’s Corner Fire Company, the Manalapan Twp. Fire Company, the Englishtown Fire Company, and the Monroe Fire Company responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident, however, the business did sustain heavy damage. This incident is under investigation by Patrolman Jason Vigneault and Detective Dominic Donatelli of Manalapan Township Police Department, along with the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office and the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office.
