Warrant Arrest
On Sunday, January 6, 2019 at approximately 4:00 p.m., Patrolman Philip Accatatta conducted a motor vehicle stop on Winding Woods Way after observing a motor vehicle violation. The operator was identified as 30-year-old, single male Jarred A. Jimenez of Manalapan Township. Jimenez, who is a salesman, was found to have an outstanding warrant issued for his arrest for $1,000 out of the Manalapan Township Municipal Court. Jimenez was arrested, processed, and later released pending a future court date. Jimenez was additionally issued a motor vehicle ticket for driving while suspended.

Theft
On Saturday, January 5, 2019, at approximately 6:25 p.m., a 30-year-old Marlboro resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report the theft of eyeglasses valued at $13,825 that were believed to have been delivered to the wrong individual, possibly in the area of 700 Tennent Road in Manalapan. Patrolman Christopher Makwinski took the report, which is
pending further investigation.

Warrant Arrest
On Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 9:06 a.m., Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis conducted a motor vehicle stop on Taylors Mills Road after observing a traffic violation. The driver, identified as Nicole M. Smith, a 38-year-old, unemployed, separated, female resident of Somerset, was found to have warrants issued for her arrest by the Bridgewater Municipal Court in the amount of $1,500 and the
Morristown Municipal Court in the amount of $500. Ms. Smith was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and released after posting bail. Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis was the arresting officer.

Theft
On Friday, January 4, 2019, at 8:00 p.m., a 22-year-old Manalapan resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report a wallet being taken from an unsecured locker at the Jersey Strong Gym, located at 300 Gordon’s Corner Road in Manalapan, between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The wallet and contents were valued at $126. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Manalapan Township Police Department at 732- 446- 4300. Patrolman Aaron Abeles took the report, which is pending further investigation.

Simple Assault/Criminal Mischief
On Thursday, January 3, 2019, at 11:46 p.m., a 28-year-old Manalapan resident reported that a 54-year-old Manalapan resident grabbed the victim and threw items at the victim while at the Valero Gas Station, located at 391 Route 9 south, in Manalapan. The accused is also reported to have knocked over and thrown merchandise around the store. This incident is pending the signing of criminal complaints. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Patrolman Brian Cruse was the responding officer.

Possession of Less than 50 Grams of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia
On Thursday, January 3, 2018, at 10:29 p.m., Patrolman John Lightbody conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 9, after observing a traffic violation. The driver, identified as Ashley Lebowitz, a 20-year old, unmarried, female Manalapan resident, who is employed as a teacher, was found to be in possession less than 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Ms. Lebowitz was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police headquarters where she was processed and released after being issued a summons. Patrolman John Lightbody was the arresting officer.

Identity Theft
On Thursday, January 3, 2019 at approximately 4:06 p.m., a 71-year-old Manalapan resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report that unknown actor(s) utilized the victim’s personal information in an attempt to open three separate credit cards in the victim’s name. The unknown actor(s) were unsuccessful at opening the aforementioned credit cards. Patrolman Phillip Accatatta was the responding officer.

Warrant Arrest
On Thursday, January 3, 2019, at 9:00 a.m., Tara Savarirayan, a 36-year-old, separated, female, resident of Manalapan, who is employed in client services, turned herself in at Manalapan Township Police Headquarters regarding a warrant that was issued for her arrest by the Manalapan Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1,000. Ms. Savarirayan was processed and released after posting bail. Patrolman Seth Kreizman was the arresting officer.

Possession of Less Than 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at 8:10 p.m., Patrolman Matthew Porricelli conducted a motor vehicle stop on Woodward Road, in the area of Rt. 33 in Manalapan. The driver, identified as Christopher Correa, a 25-year-old, unmarried, male, resident of Freehold, who is employed as a farm manager, was found to be in possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and drug
paraphernalia. Mr. Correa was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after being issued summonses. Patrolman Matthew Porricelli was the arresting officer.

Shoplifting/K-9 Apprehension
On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at 4:30 p.m., employees of Best Buy, located at 15 Route 9 South in Manalapan reported a shoplifting in progress. Sergio G. Olaizola, a 50-year-old, unmarried, unemployed, male, resident of Elizabeth, was observed by responding officers leaving the store with stolen merchandise valued at $379.96. Mr. Olaizola failed to comply with officers’ commands and he was subsequently apprehended by Patrolman Adam Sosnowski and his K-9 partner, Grim. Mr. Olaizola was placed under arrest and transported to Centra State Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. He was then transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, possession of anti-theft countermeasure tools, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Olaizola was subsequently turned over to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a court appearance. Patrolman Peter Bylsma was the arresting officer.

Harassment
On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at 11:55 a.m., a 22-year-old Manalapan resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report being harassed by another 22-year-old Manalapan resident. No complaints were signed as a result of this incident. Patrolman Reginald Grant was the responding officer.

Possession of a Controlled and Dangerous Substance/Possession of a Hypodermic Needle
On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at 9:40 a.m., Patrolman Bart Mattaliano conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 9 in the area of Symmes Road for a traffic violation. The driver, identified as George N. Tanus, a 29-year-old, unmarred, unemployed, male, resident of East Brunswick, NJ, was found to be in possession of prescription medication without a valid prescription and a hypodermic needle. Mr. Tanus was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after being issued summonses. Patrolman Bart Mattaliano was the arresting officer.

Harassment
On Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at 4:30 p.m., a 50-year-old Manalapan resident reported being the victim of harassment by an unknown actor after a previous altercation. Patrolman Jeffrey Mattson took the report, which is pending further investigation.

Fraud
On Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at 8:07 a.m., a 64-year-old Manalapan resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report selling an item over the internet for $310. The buyer reported the item as damaged, requested a return and sent back an item that was not the original item sold. The buyer was refunded their money and the victim ultimately lost $308.59 on the transaction. Patrolman Jeffrey Emslie was the responding officer.

Fraud
On Monday, December 31, 2018 at 11:45 a.m., a 38-year-old resident Manalapan resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report selling an item on the application “Letgo” and was contacted by an unknown subject interested in buying the item. The unknown subject sent a check to the victim in the amount of $1,050 covering the sale item for
$150, $20 for gas, and $880 to provide to the movers that would retrieve the item purchased. The unknown subject directed the victim to purchase $880 in various gift cards and to provide the gift card numbers and pins to them, which was completed by the victim. The victim’s item was never retrieved and the gift card balances are zero. Residents are cautioned to be aware of internet scams related to buying and selling items via online applications. Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis took the report, which is pending further investigation.
