A suspicious person was seen in the driveway of a Lauren Court residence; there was a theft at Covered Bridge and more:

MANALAPAN, NJ — Released by the Manalapan police, and unedited by Patch, here are all the incidents in the Township from Jan. 8 - Jan. 14:
Shoplifting
On Saturday, January 13 at approximately 4:45 p.m., Patrolman Peter Bylsma responded to the Wegman’s Supermarket, located at 55 Route 9 South in Manalapan for the report of shoplifting. William W. Warren, a 58-year-old, unmarried, unemployed, male, resident of Long Branch, was placed under arrest for attempting to shoplift $624.06 worth of merchandise from the store. Mr. Warren was subsequently transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after being issued a summons.
Eluding/Driving While Intoxicated
On Saturday, January 13, 2018, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Patrolman Eric Voorand conducted a motor vehicle stop on Gordon’s Corner Road, in the area of Pease Road, for several motor vehicle violations. The driver of the vehicle subsequently fled the scene of the stop at a high rate of speed. The investigation conducted by Patrolman Eric Voorand resulted in the arrest of Michael M. Kerins, a 49-year-old, unemployed, married, male, resident of Englishtown, NJ, who was located at a residence in Monroe, New Jersey. Mr. Kerins was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police Department where he was charged with Eluding a Police Officer, Driving While Intoxicated, Having an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Failure to Observe Traffic Signals, Failure to Maintain Lanes, Failure to Signal a Turn, Passing in a No Passing Zone, Careless Driving, Speeding, Obstructing a Roadway, and Failure to Exhibit a Valid Registration Card. Mr. Kerins was processed and released to a family member after being issued the summonses. This incident is pending court. Patrolman Eric Voorand made the arrest.

Fraud
On Saturday, January 13, 2018, at approximately 3:55 p.m., a 72-year-old Manalapan resident reported that his credit card had been used to make unauthorized purchases in excess of $900.00 at the Wegman’s Supermarket located at 55 Route 9 South in Manalapan. Patrolman Brian Schank handled the report.
Theft
On Friday, January 12, 2018, at approximately 12:52 p.m., the Covered Bridge Condominium Association reported that an unknown actor(s) removed an electric meter from a building located on Arrowood Road in Manalapan. The electric meter controlled power to the exterior of the building and did not cause a loss of
power to the individual residences. This value of the meter is unknown at this time and this case pending further investigation. Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis took the report.

Warrant Arrest
On Friday, January 12, 2018, at approximately 2:40 p.m., Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis responded to the Somerset County Correctional Institution where Shawn Defeo, a 29-year-old, unmarried, male, resident of Little Egg Harbor, who is employed as a sub-contractor, was placed under arrest regarding a warrant that was issued for his arrest by the Manalapan Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1,156. Mr. Defeo was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in lieu of bail.
Terroristic Threats
On Thursday, January 11, 2018, at approximately 8:57 p.m., a 42-year-old Manalapan resident reported that they had been receiving multiple phone calls from an unknown actor who was making threatening comments. Patrolman Douglas Zike took the report.
Suspicious Activity
On Thursday, January 11, 2018, at approximately 6:45 p.m., a 56-year-old Manalapan resident reported seeing a suspicious person in the driveway of a Lauren Court residence the prior evening at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. The male was described as being an average height, white, male, thin build, early to mid 20s in age, wearing a blue sweatshirt and dark-colored pants. The reporting party stated that the male ran into the woods after being seen. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to please contact the Manalapan Township Police Department at 732-446-4300. Patrolman Jason Vigneault took the report.
Trailer Theft
On Thursday, January 11, 2018, at 2:54 pm, a 42-year-old Holmdel resident reported that unknown actor(s) stole a 20-foot flat bed Suretrack trailer from the Airtight Storage, located at 41 Wilson Avenue in Manalapan, NJ. The trailer contained tools and equipment valued at approximately $100,000. The trailer is believed to have been removed between October, 2017 and January, 2018. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to please contact the Manalapan Township Police Department at 732-446-4300. Patrolman Jeff Emslie took the report, which is pending further investigation.
Fraud/Theft
On Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 11:45 am, a business located on US Highway 9 in Manalapan reported that an employee falsified their work hours and forged signatures resulting in a loss totaling $633.93. The business received partial payment back from the employee but they have failed to provide the balance. This incident is pending further investigation and was handled by Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis.
Possession of Less Than 50 Grams of Marijuana
On Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 6:00 pm, Patrolman John Lightbody conducted a motor vehicle stop on Pease Road after observing a motor vehicle violation. Vincent Coppola, an 18-year-old, unmarried, unemployed, male, resident of Manalapan, was found to be in possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. Mr. Coppola was placed under arrest and transported to the Manalapan Township Police Department, where he was processed and released after being issued summonses. Patrolman John Lightbody made the arrest.
Warrant Arrest
On Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 11:20 am, Renee Larkin, a 35-year-old, unmarried, female, resident of Toms River, who is employed as an insurance processor, turned herself in at Manalapan Township Police Headquarters regarding a warrant that was issued for her arrest by the Manalapan Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1,000.00. Ms. Larkin was also found to have two additional warrants issued by the Howell Township Municipal Court totaling $2,001.00, and she was found to be a wanted person out of Bucks County,
Pennsylvania. Ms. Larkin was processed and turned over to the Howell Township Police Department. Patrolman Anthony Cascella handled the arrest.
Fraud
On Monday, January 08, 2018, at approximately 6:48 p.m., a 74-year-old, Manalapan resident reported fraudulent activity on her computer. The victimrelated that unknown actors gained remote access to the victim’s computer and encrypted the hard drive. Patrolman Peter Bylsma handled the report.
Harassment
On Monday, January 08, 2018, at approximately 6:19 pm, a 37-year-old Manalapan resident responded to the Manalapan Township Police Department and reported that an unknown actor has been sending fraudulent information about the victim to the victim’s doctors. Patrolman Peter Bylsma took the report.
