Manalapan Police Blotter, July 23 - July 29

Shoplifting occurred at both the Home Goods and the Harmon Face Values in Manalapan last week, police said.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Released by Manalapan police and unedited by Patch, all the arrests and incidents last week:

Fraud

On Sunday, July 29 at approximately 2:50 p.m., the victim, a 72-year-old Manalapan resident, reported that an unknown subject(s) sent them a certified check in the amount of $2.375.00 for furniture that they were selling on “Let Go." The furniture was being sold for $700.00. The unknown subject(s) requested that
the victim keep $700.00 but forward the remaining $1,675.00 to an address in another state through a money transfer. The transfer was canceled prior to being completed and the victim appeared to have been involved in a scam. At the time of this report, there was no documented loss by the victim. Patrolman Douglas Zike handled the initial investigation.

Simple Assault
On Sunday July 29 at approximately 11:37 a.m., a 64-year-old resident of Manalapan reported that a 49-year-old male resident of 327 Rt. 33 pushed him during an altercation. There were no injuries were reported or arrests made in this incident. Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis handled the report.

Theft of Purse
On Saturday July 28 at approximately 7:25 p.m., a 30-year-old female resident of Manalapan reported that an unknown subject removed her purse from her shopping cart while she was shopping at AC Moore on Rt. 9. The total value of the purse and items inside was reported to be approximately $4,060.00. There were no suspects identified at the time of the report. Shoplifting
On Saturday July 28 at approximately 6:45 p.m., Harmon Face Value reported that an unknown subject had just previously removed $1,059.84 worth of hair products from the store without paying. The suspect was described as a white male in his 40’s and clean shaven. This suspect then entered unknown silver SUV and left the area. Anyone with any information regarding this incident should contact the Manalapan Police Department. Ptl. Kyle Earley handled the report.

Warrant Arrest
On Saturday, July 28 at 1:54 p.m., Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis and Patrolman Brian Schank responded to the East Windsor Police Department pick up Billjo Rovira, a 26-year-old, unmarried, unemployed, male resident of Bordentown, NJ, who was in their custody for a traffic warrant that was issued by the Manalapan Township Municipal Court in the mount of $1,000.00. Billjo Rovira was subsequently transported from the East Windsor Police Department to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in lieu of bail. Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis handled the arrest.

Warrant Arrest

On Friday July 27 at 5:11 p.m., Patrolman John Lightbody conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 33 after observing a motor vehicle violation. The passenger, Ammar Albajrak, a 29-year-old, unmarried, Patterson, NJ resident, employed as a house cleaner, was found to have two active no-bail criminal warrants. One was issued out of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department and the other was issued by the Clifton Police Department. Ammar was transported to the Manalapan Township Police Department where he was processed and turned over to the Bergen County Sheriffs Department. Patrolman John Lightbody handled the arrest.

Theft
On July 25 at approximately 10:55 p.m., a 73-year-old Manalapan Township resident reported that an unknown actor(s) took possession of her wallet that was valued at $30 by removing it from her purse inside of her residence located on Palomino Drive. The contents of the wallet included a New Jersey driver’s license, $300.00 in cash, and six credit cards. The victim believed that a member of her cleaning service was responsible but could not provide any evidence or proof. Patrolman Jeffrey Mattson handled the report.

Attempted Burglary/Criminal Mischief

On July 24 at 12:42 p.m., a resident on Cross Slope Court in Manalapan reported that an unknown subject attempted to burglarize his unit by cutting a screen for a rear window. The window was locked at the time and no items were reported stolen. The incident occurred sometime between July 21, 2018 and July 23, 2018. There were no similar incidents in the area or suspects made known at the time of the report. Patrolman Dennis O’Brien handled the report.

Theft by Deception/Shoplifting
On July 24 at approximately 10:18 a.m., Ptl. Kevin Ruditsky met with an Organized Retail Crime Investigator for the Home Goods store on Rt. 9 in Manalapan at the Manalapan police headquarters. It was reported that on September 17, 2017 at 4:23 pm, three suspects entered the Home Goods store and committed theft by deception and shoplifting in the amount of $1,024.88. Two suspects were described as a 31-year-old female resident of Bayonne and a 32-year-old male resident of Brooklyn. The third suspect could not be identified
and criminal complaints against the two identified are pending. The suspects involved were identified from prior incidents with investigators from the Home Goods store at their other locations.

Vandalism to a vehicle

On July 23 at approximately 6:50 p.m., patrols responded to 123 Rt. 33, for a report of vandalism to a vehicle. The 38-year-old victim of Freehold related they returned to their vehicle after work to see multiple scratches from a key on both of the passenger side doors. Unknown value of damage. Incident is still being investigated. Ptl. Matt Porricelli handled the incident.

Burglary/Criminal Mischief
On July 23 at 5:27 p.m., patrols responded to Saddlebrook Drive for a theft of construction tools. The victim, a 61-year-old resident of Manalapan, reported that sometime in between the hours of 2:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m., unknown actor(s) opened up the rear of his pick-up truck removing a construction bag containing various construction tools of an estimated value of approximately $590.00. If anyone has any further information in regards to this incident, they are asked to please contact the Manalapan Township Police Department. Patrolman Kyle Williams handled the report.
