MANALAPAN, NJ — Released by Manalapan police and unedited by Patch, all the arrests and incidents in the past week:
Shoplifting
On Saturday, November 3, 2018, at approximately 5:30 p.m., employees of the Best Buy store, located at #15 Route 9 in Manalapan, reported that James W. Garcia, a 46-year-old, unmarried, male, resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, who is employed as a dishwasher, attempted to conceal and remove items valued at $200.00 without rendering payment. Mr. Garcia was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after being issued a summons. Patrolman Matthew Porricelli was the arresting officer.
Warrant Arrest
On Friday, November 2, 2018, at 7:28 p.m., Erik Hernandez, an 18-year-old, unmarried, male, resident of Monroe Township, who is employed as a landscaper, turned himself in at Manalapan Township Police Headquarters regarding a warrant that was issued for his arrest by the Manalapan Township Municipal Court in the amount of $750.00. Mr. Hernandez was processed and released after posting bail. Patrolman Matthew Porricelli was the arresting officer.

Criminal Attempt/Possession of a False Government Document/Credit Card Fraud/Warrant Arrest
On Thursday, November 1, 2018, at 7:15 p.m., employees of Best Buy, located at #15 Route 9 in Manalapan reported a fraud. Mychelle K. Williams, a 42-year-old, unmarried, unemployed, female, resident of Brooklyn, New York, was attempting to purchase $3,199.88 worth of merchandise, specifically an Apple Ipad Pro and Apple Macbook. Ms. Williams attempted to render payment with a credit card and utilized a New York Driver’s license. The investigation revealed the New York driver’s license and credit card to be fraudulent. Ms. Williams was also to found to have two warrants issued for her arrest by the Millburn Township Municipal Court in the amounts of $1,710.00 and $1,000.00. Ms. Williams was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where she charged with credit card fraud and Possession of a False Government Document. She was processed and turned over to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a court appearance. Patrolman Matthew Meyler was the arresting officer, with Patrolman Brian Schank assisting.

On Thursday, November 1, 2018, at 6:45 p.m., a 47-year-old Manalapan resident reported his vehicle was keyed while parked in the street in front of a McIntosh Lane residence between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The key markings appeared on the length of the driver’s side of the vehicle. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Manalapan Township Police Department at 732-446-4300. Patrolman Matthew Meyler was the responding officer.
Assault
On Thursday, November 1, 2018, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a 44-year-old Manalapan resident reported being assaulted by a 27-year-old Manalapan resident at the Marianne Manor, located at 327 Route 33 in Manalapan. Minor injuries were reported as a result of this incident, which is pending the signing of complaints with the Manalapan Township Municipal Court. Patrolman Charles Mazzatto was the responding officer.
Harassment
On Thursday, November 1, 2018, at approximately 3:24 p.m., a 43-year-old Manalapan Township resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report being harassed by an unknown actor via text message and telephone. Patrolman Douglas Zike was the responding officer.
Attempted Burglary to a Motor Vehicle
On Wednesday, October, 31, 2018, at 11:21 am, a 31-year-old Manalapan resident reported that an unknown actor attempted to gain entry to vehicles that were parked in the driveway of a Mercer Lane residence during the overnight hours. The resident’s video surveillance showed an unknown actor attempt to enter the victim’s two locked vehicles, which were parked on the driveway, and
then leave after not gaining access. Patrolman Ross Dessel took the report, which is pending further investigation.
Burglary
On Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at approximately 7:30 a.m., an unknown actor(s) forcibly entered the Brooklyn Square Pizza Restaurant located at 73 Wilson Avenue in Manalapan and removed a cash register valued at $600 that contained $100 in cash. This incident is believed to have occurred between 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 and 7:20 a.m. on October 31, 2018. Patrolman J. Morgan Joiner took the report, which is pending further investigation.
Burglary to a Motor Vehicle/Theft
On Wednesday, October, 31, 2018, at 7:24 a.m., a 38-year-old Manalapan resident reported that during the overnight hours, an unknown actor entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of a Mercer Lane residence and removed $40.00. Residents are asked to please lock their vehicles while they are unattended and remove the keys & key fobs. Patrolman Ross Dessel took the report, which is pending further investigation.
Fraud
On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at approximately 7:50 p.m., a 51-year-old Manalapan resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report that an unknown actor(s) used the victim’s personal information in an attempt to open credit card accounts. No monetary loss was reported as a result of this incident. Patrolman Kyle Williams took the report, which is pending further investigation.
Harassment
On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at approximately 7:44 p.m., a 23-year-old resident of Aberdeen Township responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report that during the course of last year, an individual has been actively harassing them and following them to various locations. Patrolman Douglas Zike was the responding officer for this incident, which is pending the signing of complaints with the Manalapan Township Municipal Court.
Warrant Arrest
On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at approximately 2:49 p.m., Gafur Shatku, a 43-year-old, married, male, resident of Freehold Township, who is self-employed, turned himself in at Manalapan Township Police Headquarters regarding a warrant that was issued for his arrest by the Manalapan Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1,500.00. Mr. Shatku was processed and released after posting bail. Patrolman Kevin Ruditsky was the arresting officer.
Burglary to a Motor Vehicle
On Monday, October 29, 2018, at approximately 8:20 p.m., a 38-year-old Manalapan resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report that at approximately 4:00 a.m., an unknown actor, described only as 5’9” in height, weighing 140 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants, and a backpack, entered an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a Church Lane residence. No items were reported missing from the vehicle. Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles while they are unattended and remove the keys & key fobs. Patrolman Douglas Zike took the report, which is pending further investigation.
Fraud/Identity Theft
On Monday, October 29, 2018, at 8:33 p.m., a 47-year-old Manalapan resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report that an unknown actor(s) utilized the victim’s personal information to open Verizon account and a phone attached to the account. A Best Buy credit card was also opened, and over $3,000.00 in fraudulent purchases were made. A Kay Jewelers account was attempted to be opened but was cancelled. Patrolman Jeffrey Emslie took the report, which is pending further investigation.
Theft
On Monday, October 29, 2018, at 6:08 p.m., a 48-year-old Manalapan resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report that between 2:10 p.m. and 2:38 p.m., an unknown actor(s) stole a wallet and its contents valued at $2,300.00 from a shopping cart at Target, located at 55 Route 9 in Manalapan. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Manalapan Township Police Department at 732-446-4300. Patrolman Kyle Williams handled the report, which is pending further investigation.
