Shoplifting
On Sunday, September 23, 2018, at approximately 8:00 pm, Ptl. Charles Mazzatto responded to the Target located on US Hwy 9 in Manalapan for a report of a shoplifter that had been located by Target’s Loss Prevention Officer. Angelo Violante, a 74-year-old resident of Manalapan who is single and employed as a deli worker, was being detained by a loss-prevention officer for attempting to leave the business with
$120.96 of unpaid merchandise. Ptl. Mazzatto placed Violante under arrest and transported him to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a future court date. Angelo Violante was charged with Shoplifting.

Warrant Arrest
On Saturday, September 22, 2018, at approximately 1:06 a.m., Patrolman Kyle Earley conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 South for a traffic violation. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Gafur Shatku, a 42-year-old, married, male, resident of Freehold Township, who is employed as an HVAC Mechanic, was found to have a warrant issued for his arrest by the Manalapan Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1000.00. Mr. Shatku was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after posting bail.

Fraud
On Thursday, September 21, 2018, at approximately 8:10 p.m., a 71-year-old Manalapan resident reported receiving a telephone call from an unknown actor purporting to be an agent for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The individual claimed that the victim had unpaid taxes and was threatened with arrest if the
taxes were not paid. No financial loss was reported as a result of this incident. Residents are reminded that this type of incident is an ongoing scam and are requested to not send or transfer money in the event that they receive a call of this nature via the telephone. Patrolman Douglas Zike was the responding officer.

Burglary
On Thursday, September 20, 2018, at approximately 9:00 p.m., a 35-year-old Manalapan resident reported a residential burglary to a Monterey Lane residence. Sometime between 12:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., an unknown actor forcibly entered the unoccupied residence and removed various items. The value of the items has not yet been determined. Patrolman Christopher Makwinski took the report, which is pending further investigation. Warrant Arrest
On Thursday, September 20, 2018, at approximately 2:47 p.m., Michael Ayad, a 32-year-old, unmarried, male, resident of Millstone, NJ, who is employed as a business analyst, turned himself in at Manalapan Township Police Headquarters regarding two warrants that were issued for his arrest by the Manalapan
Township Municipal Court in the amounts of $1,000.00 and $500.00. Mr. Ayad was processed and released after posting bail. Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis was the arresting officer.

Simple Assault, Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief
On Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at approximately 5:01 p.m., a 59-year-old Manalapan resident reported a disorderly person at an Orchard Hill residence. Carter R. Frew, a 24-year-old, unmarried, unemployed, male, resident of Manalapan, who is currently unemployed, was subsequently placed under arrest. While in police custody, Mr. Frew attempted to assault two police officers, resisted arrest, and later damaged property belonging to the Township of Manalapan. Mr. Carter was charged with Simple Assault, Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Mischief. Mr. Carter was subsequently transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a court appearance. Patrolman Peter Bylsma was the arresting officer.

Warrant Arrest

On Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at 4:01 p.m., Jose Campos Xochihuila, a 22-year-old, unmarried, male, resident of Howell, NJ, who is employed as a pool maintenance employee, turned himself in at Manalapan Township Police Headquarters regarding a warrant that was issued for his arrest by the Manalapan Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1,000.00. Mr. Xochihuila was processed and released after posting bail. Patrolman Douglas Zike was the arresting officer.

Fraud
On Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at 12:45 p.m., a 65-year-old Manalapan resident reported receiving two counterfeit $10.00 bills from an automated teller machine on September 12, 2018. The bills were subsequently turned over to the police department. Patrolman Seth Kreizman was the responding officer.

Identity Theft
On Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 9:35 a.m., a 31-year-old Manalapan resident responded to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters to report that on September 7, 2018, an unknown actor attempted to open several credit cards in the victim’s name at the Westfarms Mall, located in West Hartford, Ct. and subsequently made purchased in the amount of $7,800.00 at that location. Patrolman Anthony Cascella took the report, which is pending further investigation.

Warrant Arrest

On Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at approximately 6:24 p.m., Patrolman Kyle Williams conducted a motor vehicle stop on US Highway 9 North for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Patrick Walter, a 31-year-old, single, male, resident of Manalapan, NJ, who is employed as an electrician, was found to have a traffic warrant issued for his arrest by the Asbury Park Municipal Court in the amount of $89.00. Mr. Walter was placed under arrest and transported to the Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after posting bail. Patrolman Kyle Williams was the arresting officer.

Warrant Arrest
On Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at approximately 4:41 p.m., Patrolman Christopher Makwinski conducted a motor vehicle stop on State Highway 33 East for a traffic violation. Further investigation of the stop revealed the passenger, Travis Balitsky, a 36-year-old, divorced, unemployed, South River resident, was found to have one outstanding criminal warrant for $500.00 and one outstanding traffic warrant for $100.00 that were each issued by the South River Municipal Court. Travis was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after posting bail. Patrolman Christopher Makwinski handled the arrest.

Warrant Arrest
On Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at approximately 3:57 p.m., Patrolman Peter Bylsma conducted a motor vehicle stop on US Route 9 South after observing a motor vehicle violation. It was later determined that the passenger, Regina M. Slowinski, a 32-year-old, white, female, unmarried, unemployed, resident of New
Egypt, had three outstanding warrants issued for her arrest. A $1,500 criminal warrant was issued by the Howell Municipal Court, a $750 criminal warrant was issued by the Lakehurst Municipal Court, and a $250 traffic warrant was issued by the Jackson Township Municipal Court. Regina was placed under arrest and she was transported to the Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and later released after posting bail. Patrolman Peter Bylsma handled the arrest.

Criminal Mischief
On Monday, September 17, 2018, at approximately 2:20 p.m., a 65-year-old Manalapan resident reported that sometime during the course of the previous two days, unknown actors had removed the numbers from the mailbox of a Regency Way residence. The numbers were subsequently located on the property of the residence. Patrolman Ross Dessel was the responding officer.
