Manalapan Will Have One of Six Sites to Legally Grow Medical Marijuana in State

The state department announced the six sites for legally-sanctioned growers and sellers for New Jersey's medical marijuana.

Manalapan will be home to one of the six legally-sanctioned growers and sellers for New Jersey's medical marijuana, the state department announced today.

Breakwater Alternative Treatment Center, out of Ocean, will host their alternative treatment center out of Manalapan. The exact address isn't known at this time.

According to NJ.com's report, the state health department released the winning applicants today. However, the Legislature has expressed intentions to repeal the medical marijuana program rules, which could delay the operation.

According to NJ.com's article, The New Jersey Compassionate Use Marijuana Act requires the health department to license two "alternative treatment centers each in the north, central and southern parts of the state, for a total of six. These six centers must be incorporated as nonprofit agencies, according to the state rules.

The other towns which would host an alternative treatment center are: New Brunswick, Bellmawr, Secaucus, and Montclair. The final site, which has yet to be determined, would be in Burlington or Camden county.
