MANALAPAN, NJ — A Manalapan woman and her husband won more than $500,000 in the New Jersey Lottery this summer, the lottery announced Monday.

Karen O. (last name not disclosed) bought her ticket at the Soda King at 300 Gordons Corner Road in Manalapan. Those numbers they chose were 03, 05, 11, 13 and 37. The numbers all relate to sports; some were the numbers her husband wore on his jerseys over the years, others are of favorite players. And it turns out they all matched the drawing in the July 22 Jersey Cash 5 drawing.

The lottery provided this photo of Karen with her winning check. All Jersey Cash 5 payments are cash payments, not annuities. Federal law requires the New Jersey Lottery to withhold 25 percent from any prize of more than $5,000 for federal taxes. State law requires the New Jersey Lottery to withhold state tax at the rate of 5 percent from any prize in excess of $10,000 and up to $500,000 or eight percent from any prize in excess of $500,000.
