March 27th-April 2nd is "Tsunami Preparedness Week"
Tsunamis are rare but they are extremely dangerous, so it is vital to be prepared.

March 27th-April 2nd is ”Tsunami Preparedness Week.” Tsunamis can be triggered by various underwater disturbances such as earthquakes and landslides. Tsunamis are rare, but the destruction they will cause can be devastating. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) states “Although a tsunami cannot be prevented, the impact of a tsunami can be mitigated through community preparedness, timely warnings and effective response.” If your community is in a coastal area, know how to prepare for a tsunami ahead of time including knowing if your home is in a tsunami hazard area or evacuation zone.
