Community Corner

March is "National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month"

The Manalapan Township Health Department wants our community to be aware and to take precautions to prevent colon cancer.

March is “National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.” Colorectal cancer affects people in all racial and ethnic groups in ages 50 and older. Staying active by exercising can help reduce the risk of colorectal cancer. Talk to your doctor about the importance of getting screened starting at age 50. Early detection can save lives; if everyone age 50 and older received a screening yearly, 6 out of 10 deaths from colorectal cancer could be prevented. For more information, please visit the Prevent Cancer Foundation website at http://preventcancer.org/prevention/preventable-cancers/colorectal-cancer/.
